Beautiful Pathways, Beautiful People Project
The “Beautiful Pathways Beautiful People” Mosaic Project was launched on Monday 1st December, 2008 at St. Bede’s with about fifty people gathering for speeches and scones and tea. The mosaic pathway was designed and created by participants who struggle with chronic mental illness with the support of St. Bede’s Activity Centre.
This Community Arts project is a marvelous testament of the power of working in partnership. It reminds us that despite challenges in and around us, together we can create beauty and strive to make pathways of healing and hope.
The beautiful pathway is a reflection of the people who created it. By sharing their creativity this pathway of welcome, healing, friendship, compassion and fun, will rub off on all who visit St. Bede’s regularly or on occasion.
The project has been funded by Port Adelaide Enfield Council and supported by Western Day Programs (through Central Western Health Services, SA Government) and St. Bede’s. Community artists Mel Curtis and Lawrence Wilkes worked with the participants throughout the year.
The pathway is a gift for the parish which has been marvelously timed to be completed just in time to celebrate the 50th anniversary of St. Bede’s hall. This will be an extra reason to celebrate when we gather for our Christmas lunch on Sunday 14th and hope you can join us. This Advent as we wait on the threshold of hope anticipating the renewal of love and grace through the celebration of Christ’s birth,
We encourage you to remember 3 things.
Firstly remember that you are precious in Gods’ eyes and loved totally and unconditionally.
Secondly remember that God is within each person (whether we find them to our liking or not!).
Thirdly remember that God is present in all of creation and all of the created worldcan speak to us of the God who creates, sustains and reveals the beauty of God within creation.
