Outreach

Outreach is an important part of the life of St. Bede’s. This happens in a number of ways.

Breakfast@StBede’s

On Tuesdays a free dine-in breakfast is offered in St Bede’s hall from 8:30 am to 10 am.
More details can be found here.

Takeaway@StBede’s

Takeaway@StBede’s provides a free home-cooked meal to take away for people who are homeless or finding it hard to provide nutritious meals for themselves and their families.  It operates only on Thursdays. Pick up a meal and fruit drink between 4:30 and 5:00 pm every Thursday from St.  Bede’s hall.

Bede’s Tea

St. Bede’s Tea brings together the church’s neighbours living on Military Road, South Terrace, Allsop, Albert, Company, Coppin, Dudley, Blackler, Newman, Anell and Brown streets that make up our neighborhood for regular activities and gatherings.

Fred’s Van

Fred’s Van, a St. Vincent de Paul Society service, operates with the help of  many volunteers from a wide cross-section of the community. It provides meals each Sunday evening at 6:00pm from St. Bede’s Hall for those in need.

Bede’s Bazaar

Bede’s Bazaar op-shop operates in the St. Bede’s Hall, 200 Military Road, Semaphore.
It not only is a source of lovely clothing for those who might not otherwise be able to buy it, but has proved to be a great source of support for many local people.
It is staffed by a wonderful group of volunteers, and co-ordinated by Judith Pennington.

Community Garden

The Community Garden has also proved to be a great way of people in the local community getting to know each other, as many people come together to work in the garden.  Many of the people who use the drop-in centre have also found the garden beneficial.
