Drop-In Centre
St Bede’s With AnglicareSA Drop-in Centre
Helping those in need
AnglicareSA, in Partnership with St Bede’s Anglican Church, Semaphore provides a Breakfast and Social Program for ALL members of the local community, this includes residents from Supported Residential Facilities, people living on the streets, in their car and anyone else who walks through our doors.
The Drop-in Centre operates Tuesday and Wednesday mornings from 8.30am – 10.30am and provides a healthy Breakfast. But this is not all it is about. It is about providing a place where people can meet, socialize and create a safe environment within a community that can, at times, be dismissive and cold causing isolation to those most vulnerable.
This program, is a joint venture with St Bedes Anglican Church community and AnglicareSA, The coordination of this program is shared by the Parish Community Engagement Worker from Anglicare SA and St Bedes Parish priest. It is also supported by volunteers from the parish, local area and several who come from further afield. Together we support and care for over 100 members within the local area each week.
On a lovely sunny afternoon on the 15th March, the ”Barber of St. Bede’s”, Stephen David’s, memory was celebrated with tributes and fine fare at St. Bede’s Hall. In his memory, Stephen’s sister, Trish, donated an outdoor table setting [seen in our photo below], made from 25,000 recycled plastic bags (very environmentally friendly!). Stephen will be remembered for his generosity, kindness, caring, friendship, and steadfast service to St. Bede’s Community. The furniture and attendees were all blessed by Rev. Ruth with holy water and rosemary. Thank you to all who helped to prepare this special dedication service.
